Wow, we should go for a walk everyday
By Meg | February 24, 2008
Ever just have a really productive day, the type where you go, “Wow, if every day was like this, I could do just about anything!” Ever just had one of those days where you think, “Wow, things aren’t too bad after all! Yeah, there’s a lot to do, but I’ve got a plan and the willpower!”
That’s been my day.
Seriously, I didn’t know these days really existed.
My husband and I slept in, then we had breakfast and tea while watching a DVD that I got from the library. We talked about going for a walk afterwards, and you know what, we did.
The movie ended and I put my shoes on and before we knew it, we were out the door, holding hands, strolling through our neighborhood, talking about how nice the weather was and how nice our neighborhood is.
Then we started talking about our plans for our house, for our finances, for work, etc. But instead of it being one of those, “We can just never get ahead. We have to cut back” talks, it was, “Here’s our plan. Let’s try this. I like how this is working. I like how this feels.” And really, it did feel good. Maybe it was the endorphins from walking, maybe it was just that we were really spending quality time, I don’t know.
And before we knew it, we had walked two miles.
But instead of being exhausted like when we get back from the gym, we decided to get stuff done around the house and in the yard. And we did. All sorts of stuff. Granted, we didn’t work as hard while walking as we do at the gym, but what a great feeling to still get some exercise and then get stuff done that we haven’t had the time/energy to do before.
In fact, it didn’t feel like exercise at all. I wasn’t watching the clock like at the gym. I wasn’t bored to tears like expected to be. Actually, I found it rather entertaining. My husband and I talked a lot, plus I got lots of great ideas for writing.
And while I don’t know if I’ll be walking everyday with my husband, we’re definitely looking forward to more walks like that and are planning to “experiment” with walking in the mornings when we get up, before we take our morning showers.

Fun! :) I love walks with my husband and all the talking we do. But we aren’t quite close enough to anything productive.

I’ve had those days before.. they’re few and far between but a walk usually precedes the urge to get stuff done :)
I like just walking with BF, but since we don’t live together, and are in sep. cities, we don’t have chats on how to run the household or manage finances lol

Great job, Miss Meg. What feels better than a productive day?

My husband and I had a walk like that a while back and it was great. (Usually we walk separately because he’s a much faster walker than me.) I love to walk. I do some of my best meditating and thinking while I’m walking outdoors.
Also, thanks for the great tip on my blog that you gave me a while back. I plan to implement it when I have somebody here to show me how. :)

Hi, Miss Janey!
Few things, if anything. I love chocolate… but I don’t feel this good about it days later!
Hi, Charla!
Even though my husband and I seem to walk about the same pace, our strides are very different. As a result, we rarely hold hands, though we keep trying by habit.

My husband and I go on a 2 hour walk every Sunday and it’s great to get out and do something together that involves nothing more than putting one foot in front of the other ;-)
