Trying to be frugal: The series
By Meg | February 6, 2008
My husband and I have been trying to cut down our costs, so I’ve been reading a lot of frugal blogs and particularly lists of frugal ideas. What surprises me, though, is how many things we already do. It’s easy to feel smug, but a quick look at the numbers shows that we just aren’t doing enough. We’re at that point where we are doing a lot of the easier things already and still trying to get into the habit of doing some other things, but we’re not ready/willing to go much further. It’s a bit frustrating, to say the least.
However, I figured that I would go ahead and tell you the frugal stuff that we are doing precisely because most of those things are really easy and you might want to consider doing some of them. I can’t help but think that if we had started doing all them years ago, maybe we’d be better off now (though we’d probably still be in debt).
And to be fair, I’ll also be including some things that we could, and maybe should, be doing. I welcome comments if you have additional ideas on how to be frugal. Just please be nice, stay on the post’s topic, and realize that just because you suggest something, it doesn’t mean that I’ll do it. I say this because I have seen comment wars on other blogs about some of the same topics, though so far I’ve been really impressed by the thoughtful comments left by readers on this blog.
While I had initially planned to write up a list in one or two posts, I decided to elaborate the topics. Therefore, I’ll posting this as a series. Be sure to check back for updates, whether you check the main page or bookmark this page since future posts in the series will create links in the comments section below. Or better yet, click here to subscribe to this blog if you haven’t already using the RSS reader of your choice.

Probably nothing you don’t already know (and probably some stuff I learned from you), but I look forward to your comments ; )
