Tomorrow on Oprah
By Meg | September 13, 2007
I’m looking forward to seeing tomorrow’s Oprah show, which will be about cost-conscious fashion. Vera Wang will show her budget friendly line, but will it be worthy of her name? I’m crossing my fingers. I love bargains, but a big name isn’t enough to call something “high fashion”. I wasn’t enthusiastic by Sarah Jessica Parker’s line Bitten, which was shown on Oprah previously. While it wasn’t awful, it just didn’t live up to all the hype.
If you watch the show, please let me know how you feel about the clothes. Would you buy them? Are they worthy of the Vera Wang name?

I didn’t see the show, but I did go check out Vera Wang’s clothes at the local Kohl’s. Sad to say, I was not impressed. The price point was significantly higher than designer looks at Target for GO International, but the looks weren’t all that special. Tells you something that I left empty handed.

Hi Trisha!
I finally watched the show on my DVR. I wasn’t impressed, either.
Most of the pieces seemed really bland. It didn’t help that most of the pieces were black. There were some interesting cuts, but they weren’t what I would call flattering. Black sack dresses remind me more of garbage bags than high fashion. I’ve found much more flattering pieces at TJMaxxx and Ross for a lot less.
There was a black cardigan that wasn’t bad, but they were saying that it was such a bargain at $60. Granted, I have one black cardigan that I did pay that much for at White House Black Market for graduation, but I certainly don’t count a plain black cardigan among my ‘bargains’ at $60.
I did love the gold dress that she designed for Oprah, but that’s definitely not part of her bargain line.

I also went to check out Simply Vera at Kohl’s. It did not look as good in person as it did in the ads. I only bought two things - a jacket and a pair of boots. Her accessories looked really cheap, and for the price points, not a good deal. I did a short review on my blog.

Welcome Lady N!
What a shame! I was hoping that they might actually look better in person.
