The ongoing quest for fabulous pink shoes

By Meg | February 3, 2008

I’ve been looking for bright pink shoes for some time, now. It’s a little obsession of mine.

Unfortunately, it’s not a color that comes up very often in the discount stores that I shop at, and I try not to buy too much stuff online because every time I do it makes it easier for me to buy more stuff I see online (very bad since my job has me looking at online bargains for hours at a time).

And I’m not ready to head into the local shoe stores just to find them, though I do keep my eye out for them whenever I’m around shoes for sale.

Two days ago I went to Macy’s and there were several pairs. One pair was too pointy. Another didn’t look right because the cut of the peep-toe made my toes look weird. And unfortunately, the cute pair that I thought might work wasn’t available in my size.

I just happened to go back yesterday and see yet another pair of pink shoes — on clearance and in my size. Oh, they fit comfortably. The heel was nice since they were essentially flats. I just couldn’t bring myself to wear bright pink gladiator sandals, at least not that pair.

Instead, I did pick a pair of Style&co. “Thora” pumps in “inky blue”, for about $22 including tax.

Now, I need to hurry up and find those pink shoes before I end up buying other shoes while looking for them.

Oh man! That happens to me all the time! I’ll be looking for one thing, and I’ll find a fabulous deal on something entirely different.

And I know what you mean about online shopping, but when I’m on a quest for something very specific, I always cave and go online since it’s a teeny tiny bit harder to be distracted by other good deals like I am in Macy’s!

Meg, I know probably everyone can sympathize with you on this one, but this is probably my biggest shopping pitfall. It’s much like going to the grocery store and leaving with fifteen sale items, but without the milk that necessitated the trip.

Ways to combat this? I haven’t quite found one. Suggestions? Le sigh.

Hi, Anastasia! I think maybe Shopaphilia has it right. Although I’ve been fighting back the urge to buy more things online, maybe I would be less inclined to buy other things — no feeling of “Well, I can’t just leave here empty handed.”
