The one outfit that Crocs might look good with

Here in Florida we’re proud of our Gators, but our dirty little secret is that our state is infested by Crocs. Yes, I really detest Crocs. However, I’m going to make a concession.
I’ve already said elsewhere that Crocs are alright if you’re fishing, gardening, teaching a kindergarten art class, or work in a hospital setting — not stylish, but alright. Well, I have some friends that work in a hospital and I realized something recently. Crocs can, maybe, possibly, please don’t take me off your blog roll for saying this… look cute with scrubs.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that Crocs lovers just trade in their jeans and t-shirts for scrubs. Neither scrubs nor Crocs are fashionable. However, combine these two utilitarian styles in some fun colors and it works.
I have heard that some hospitals do not allow employees to wear Crocs for health reasons, so they might not be a good choice for all health care workers.
What do you think? Are Crocs a comfy way to add some color to those dreary hospital rooms? Or, are they just awful, always and forever, no matter how or where they are worn?

Sure hun, it’s the classical image of a surgury team, which we see on TV every day. We’re trained by constant repetition of an image to find certain things appealing. The practical nature of crocs in a sterile environment is appealing when you’ve seen it enough times. Of course, scrubs aren’t “cute” in any environment - it’s just that the OR is one place where appearances really don’t matter. I suppose a lady could spend a lot of time imagining what the surgeon is wearing *under* his scrubs (or hers if you swing that way), but the surgeon would have to be cute in scrubs *and* regular clothes to make it worth my time.

I agree to a point about how the constant repetition of images helps at times, though it hasn’t done anything for Crocs on the street. Personally, I think I’m drawn to the combination of colors. Around here, hospital workers tend to have a lot of fun with scrub colors and patterns. Some are cutesy if not actually cute. The other day, one of my friends kind of reminded me of Rainbow Brite, in a good way.

Well, I’m glad that we have swayed you over from the dark side Meg. :) I suppose if you are one of those people that just detest color, then Crocs probably aren’t for you. However, the interesting and ridiculous thing about it is that Crocs fail to make a white pair. Yes, they have ‘pearl’ but it’s really a weird off-white color that just looks dirty when paired with a fresh white pair of scrub pants. I really don’t understand it, white..it’s not that hard. There are a ton of off brand ‘crocs’ that make a white shoe but then you have to sacrifice some serious comfort. In conclusion, if you want to wear Crocs because they are the best for standing all day in the hospital, you’re going to have to settle for some ridiculously brite colors!

Welcome to the site, Rainbow Brite!
Wow, I didn’t know that they didn’t make white. I learn something new every day! I guess I’m used to seeing the fake Crocs around. My sis has a pair in beige, but I don’t know if they are genuine Crocs.
Anyhow, I think you rock the Crocs, which is definitely a talent.
