The importance of magnification
By Meg | June 6, 2007
I normally wear contacts, but occasionally I give my eyes a break and wear my glasses. One thing I have noticed is that without my lenses my close-up vision is noticeably better. By close-up, I mean that when I put my nose to the mirror every clogged pore and stray eyebrow hair is suddenly apparent. With my lenses, those things are not quite so obvious, but I can see to put my makeup on.
Recently, I was staying the night at a family member’s house and they had a wall-mounted magnifying mirror. I can’t believe I have never bought one before (and I do plan to purchase one soon). It was great. I could finally see where I had too much makeup and needed to blend it in. I could see my eyelids large enough to color them in sections as they are supposed to be instead of just using one color over. And yes, I could see where I had missed some stray eyebrow hairs. I’m really looking forward to buying one of these mirrors for myself because I felt a lot more confident about my makeup and grooming when I could see everything magnified. It was also nice not to have to lean over to get a close look in my regular over since the mirror was on a folding arm. Klutz that I am, I usually end up with water or powder or toothpaste on my clothes from leaning over the counter.
Do you a magnifying mirror or do you use a regular mirror? How does this affect how you do your makeup and other grooming like tweezing your eyebrows?
