The Fabulous! Festival for January ‘08
By Meg | January 7, 2008

Welcome to the first Fabulous! Festival of 2008! By the looks of all the submissions, 2008 will definitely be a fabulous year. Here are my favorites:
Shopping
While, Christmas is now behind us, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Tina Su from Think Simple. Be Decisive has written a wonderful gift guide entitled 40 Simple Gift Ideas to Spark a Smile. Her categories like “Gifts that touch the soul” and “Books that touch lives” aren’t an overstatement in my opinion.
Beauty
Looking for ways to save money on beauty products? Stephanie Ann says, “Buying beauty products on Ebay is a great way to get a good deal if you understand how to shop smart.” Check out her post, The Beauty of Ebay, posted at The Cheap Diva.
Another way to save on beauty products is to go shopping for them in your own kitchen. Aparna presents 11 things you can do with olive oil at Beauty and Personality Grooming — and none of them are even R-rated!
Once you’ve figured out how few products you really need, check out Tip Diva’s Top Ten Tips - Clearing Out Beauty Clutter posted at Tip Diva. She has some really good ideas — like how to use broken eye shadows and how you can help others with all those hotel toiletries that you’ve collected.
Did love holiday season leave you frazzled? Jill Sherman has some suggestions to help you relax in her post New Year’s Style Resolution #4: Make Bedtime Fashionable Again at
Have your heard of the no!no! from Sephora? With a name like that, my first thought that it might be a personal taser. Turns out, it’s a hair removal device! JuiceFairy gives her impression in her post I Try Out the no!no! at Juicefairy.
Fashion
2007 was another interesting year for fashion, and not all in a good way. Lola Neopolitan presents The Nominees! for the worst celebrity outfits of 2007, posted at Fashion Poirot
One blog that recently made both my blogroll and Google Reader list is Trendinista, written by Jill Sherman. She has a great way of offering practical fashion advice with a good sense of humor, both of which are evident in this post: Does This Puffer Jacket Make Me Look Fat?.
Colors can be just as trendy as swing tops and high-waisted jeans. Ashe Mischief shares her thoughts on 2008’s supposed Color of the Year: Blue-Iris [#18-3943 at dramatis personae, saying, “Meh?” Do I sense a bit of cynicism, Ashe?
Personal Style
Since I’m a dress girl, I was happy to read Sundress Girl’s post on Wearing A Sundress posted at Southern Sundress. Turns out, they’re a lot more wearable than most people give them credit for! I love them because they make the Florida heat bearable in style.
Here’s another fun post from Jill Sherman at Trendinista: Rock It “Mrs. T” Style.
And here’s another post by Ashe Mischief: Mad About Plaid posted at dramatis personae. I admit, I’m smitten for plaid, too, even though it makes only occasional cameos in my wardrobe.
I’ve been asked many times what my favorite piece of clothing is, but I can never narrow it down. However, Icy has, and she reveals it in her post, Your absolute favourite piece of clothing posted at Individual Chic. Do you have a favorite piece of clothing? She wants to know!
Getting organized is a popular New Year’s resolution, so it’s no wonder that there were two submissions on closet organization.
Fabulously Broke presents Wardrobe Series: Take a look at what you’ve got. Check out that and the rest of the series at Fabulously Broke in the City.
For a more condensed take on the topic, check out Tip Diva’s Top Ten Tips - Organizing Your Closet posted at Tip Diva.
Finally, Stephanie Ann addresses that number one New Year’s resolution with Exercising Your Options posted at The Cheap Diva, saying, “It’s ironic that women dress so unattractively while exercising their way to a more attractive body. My article offers tips on looking chic while working out.”
That’s it for this edition of the Fabulous! Festival. Thanks to everyone who submitted posts!

Thank you so much for including my posts! Can’t wait to read the others - this looks like a great carnival.
Out of curiousity, which “Related Posts” widget do you use? I haven’t found one to suit my needs.

You’re very welcome! I hope you’ll submit to future editions!
I’m pretty sure that the plugin that does it is “Simple Tags”.

Moi? Cynical? Never! ;)
I love the power of color, but I’m just not quite sure that I believe one color can change popular ideologies, that’s all (but boy oh boy if it could! I’m all for nicer people!).
Once again, many thanks for the inclusion this month. The festival looks great, and I’m excited to read the posts featured.

You’re very welcome, Ashe! And yeah… it’s a lovely color, but I can’t say that I believe all the hype. Then again, purple has been very popular this season and I feel ever so much more relaxed and hopeful. Could there be a connection?
