The Fabulous! Festival for April ‘08
By Meg | April 7, 2008

Welcome to the April edition of The Fabulous! Festival, a blog carnival dedicated to looking and feeling fa-bu-lous. I had a great time reading all the submissions, which is why I am confident that you’ll enjoy reading my ten favorites:
Beauty
First off, Tina Su reminds us that beauty isn’t just about makeup, presenting 8 keys to Instant Charisma at Think Simple Now.
Nor does beauty mean quite the same thing across the world. Nixie77 presents Beauty Rituals: U.S. vs. France at Tango saying, “Does our definition of beauty coincide with the natural look that France is into?” It’s a great piece that will have you re-examining your daily beauty routine and lingerie choices
Feeling liberated yet? Tracee Sioux is feeling freer after ditching the body shaper. Read her account, Mood Shaper, at Blog Fabulous. She says, “Post make-over show I run out and buy a body shaper, expecting it to make me feel thinner and sexier. When I put it on though, I feel fat, squished, irritable, unworthy and hostile.”
Personal Style
You don’t have to be thin to be sexy, though, as evident by the many plus size pinups — though they’re still not quite mainstream. Tali from The Pinup Blog asks, “Plus Size Pinups - Could They Ever Grow Beyond Sidestream?”
Whatever your size or shape, Debra Moorhead from DebraMoorhead.com shares great advice in her post, How to Have a Closet Full of Clothes You Love.
Shopping
Along similar lines, Jacinta Gandy presents Fashion Theory: Seven Deadly Shopping Sins at apresenta.
Fashion
Wondering what the major trends are this spring? Julie Heath from More4kids presentsTeen Fashion - Getting Ready for Spring, a parent’s guide to spring fashion that is right on target for teen and adult fashions alike.
Lots of parents love clothes shopping with their kids, but there’s one type of clothing that many parents feel uncomfortable shopping for with their kids — lingerie. That hasn’t stopped stores like Victoria’s Secret from marketing to teens, though. At State of the Brand from Ecra Creative Group, Jason Voiovich presents,Victoria’s Secret: Too sexy for its own good?, giving us “A look into the inner working of the Victoria’s Secret business model.”
A glimpse of lingerie can be sexy, but accidental showings can also be very embarrassing. Fortunately, Tip Diva presents her Top Ten Tips - Preventing Wardrobe Malfunctions, saying “Everybody has had a “wardrobe malfunction” at one time or another - even Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, who coined the phrase after the Superbowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy. But these malfunctions can easily be avoided or quickly fixed, and here’s how.”
Yes, celebrities are well-accustomed to having their most embarrassing mistakes picked apart by the public — especially when it comes to what they wear walking down the red carpet. Over at Celebrity News and Gossip, Silveral presents Top Celebrity Fashion Tips, which explains why some stars wear what they do and what it means for the rest of us.
And over at The Bargain Queens…
Just a reminder to keep checking The Bargain Queens for more advice on these topics, as well as great bargain finds from around the web. Last month, I wrote How to save money on ‘real’ jewelry, while Sara disclosed The very best places to shop online.
Attention Bloggers!

Oh, it’s lovely to see a fabulous festival up!
Are you still soliciting entries, or how is it running now?

Hi Ashe Mischief! It’s great to see you around!
Right now, I’m scheduling one edition per month. It’s still based on submissions via the link mentioned at the bottom of the post. We’ve had great turnout lately, so I haven’t been advertising it quite as much. I do hope you’ll submit a post or two to the upcoming editions, though.
If you’re interested in hosting again, please let me know. May’s edition is going to be hosted by Anastasia, but right now, it’s pretty much open after May.

Hi Simone!
I’m so glad you found and like the blog :D
