Thank you, 1,000+ visitors!
By Meg | July 12, 2007
As of yesterday, my blog has had over 1,000 unique visitors since I started tracking site statistics with Google Analytics on June 1st, 2007. Yes, that’s less than two months ago. Of course many sites get that in a day, but this blog has only been up since May 15th. It will actually be two months old on Sunday. Unfortunately I probably won’t have internet access Sunday, so I won’t be here to celebrate. However, I would like to say thanks to everyone that has helped me get this far (and hopefully not sound too much like I just got an Oscar). And although I can’t list them all, here are some particular people and groups I would like to thank.
First off, I would like to thank all my readers. This has been an incredible experience so far for me. I love to see people coming back and find out where they are from. I get so excited when I see a new comment, because it means not only that you are visiting and reading, but also that you feel like it’s worth your time to join in on the conversation. I’m also surprised by how far away some of the visitors have come from. I would never have thought that I’d have visitors from places as far away from my physical location as Nepal and Brunei - and I think it’s awesome.
I also want to thank my family. Thanks to my husband who works so hard and is so supportive of my own work. Thank you Mom for giving me a lot of great advice over the years (see, I was listening!), and for being a regular reader. Thanks for being proud, it means so much to me. Thanks also to one particular aunt, who is another proud reader and fellow purple-lover. Our conversations have been a wonderful inspiration.
Thanks to my friends. I’d like to especially thank my friend Brett for helping me make my own transformation. He did my makeup for graduation back when I knew next to nothing about makeup or dresses, but he showed me possibilities I didn’t know existed. I really, really hope that I can get him to write a few guest posts because he is a genius when it comes to makeup and style in general. I’ve learned so much from him. Thanks also to my friend Daniel who is also great when it comes to makeup and style. Our conversations have been the inspiration for many, many posts. Thanks to my best friend, Patrick for always being there for me. (Yes, there is a pattern. I tend to have a lot more guy friends than girl friends.)
I especially want to thank the other bloggers who have linked here and given me helpful advice. Many are featured on my blogroll, so please check it out if you haven’t already (you won’t be disappointed). I would like to mention a few people specifically, though. First, thanks to The Bargain Queen for linking to my blog and for maintaining the Fabulous! Festival, a wonderful blog carnival where my posts have now been featured more than a couple times. Thanks also to all the Fabulous! Festival hosts that decided that my posts were worthy, including Icy at Individual Chic. She posted the very first comment and has been active on my site since. Rebecca from The Space Between My Peers soon followed and has also been active on my blog. Rebecca also linked to my post Dressing for Job Interviews at Casual Companies in her Just Linking post on June 1st, and to top it all off, called my mom “brilliant”. Rebecca, you don’t know how much that meant to me, and to my mom. To say that you made her day would be an understatement.
Thanks as well to Angie at YouLookFab for not being too busy to carry on an ongoing email conversation with me - especially recently when I needed to rant a bit. I’ve learned a lot from her, both from her site and through our conversation. And finally (although I could keep going on and on), thanks to Meg at Faking Good Breeding for giving me her insight on using real names on a blog (especially useful seeing how we share the same first name and blog about similar topics). Before starting the blog, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use my real name. I did have another, unrelated web site previously where I used a pseudonym but I felt that using my real name here was more personal. I’m still happy with my decision.
In other news, as of June 21st I became a professional blogger thanks to Google Adsense and the visitors who clicked the links. O.k., I don’t want to totally insult people who make a living blogging, so maybe I’m not quite a “professional blogger” yet by many standards, but I like the idea that this blog might soon pay for itself and give me some extra shopping money. If you’re interested in making money from your site through Google Adsense, you can sign up via the following link.

That’s great! I love coming to this for the well written articles, and I think to make it even better, it’s time to make the design fit your content :-)

Thanks Kpriss and welcome to the site! Yes, you caught me — I’m a fan ; )
I don’t quite have that many readers here yet, but it’s definitely looking up — especially for such a young blog. Whenever the numbers look unimpressive, I just take a look at the stats for The Bargain Queens. Fortunately, I have plenty of readers over at The Bargain Queens thanks in part to Sara’s hard work building the site.
