Shoe shopping and peep-toe shoes
By Meg | November 8, 2007
So, tonight I thought I’d take advantage of the sale at Payless. The deals weren’t as great as I hoped, but I still managed to buy 4 pairs of shoes and a clutch that matches two pairs for a final total of $92.38 (thought I may return one or two pairs depending on how I feel about them tomorrow).
There were a few pairs that I would have loved to have bought. One was the perfect style, perfect color… but was only available in size 11.
Another pair of shoes was also nearly perfect. These were the right size, right color, great low heel… but they were peep-toe shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I do have a few pairs of peep-toe shoes that I love. However, peep-toe shoes are hard to get right.
I’ve tried on so many peep-toe shoes in my many shopping trips and 90% of them look awful. They either shoe too much or too little. Personally, I prefer to just show a little bit of a few toes.
The worst look? One big toe sticking out. I call it the “camel-toe toe.”
So, ladies, take another look at those peep-toe shoes before you buy them (or decide to wear that pair every again).

Reading your post makes me want to go to Payless. I haven’t been there in a while, and I really want to go check out what they have. I’ve had several pairs of shoes from there in the past that have turned out to be my very favorite shoes. They are so comfortable and I’ve gotten several compliments on all of them. And you can’t beat the price! :)

I confess. I’m a Payless shoes addict. I wear size 11 and its one place I can always find something that fits me that I like.
Here’s an example… a little collection of my shoes. 5 of the 7 pairs are from payless!

Charla,
I must say, the selection locally was pretty good — much better than I remember though several of my favorite pairs also came from there. And yes, they were surprisingly comfortable. The pair of black ballet flats that I have mentioned wearing comfortably through London, those came from Payless.
Meg H.,
I couldn’t believe the selection they had in size 11 — and even 13! I wear an 8 1/2 at Payless and usually a 9 elsewhere so usually I head straight to the next to the last women’s aisle. I did that last night and I was still among shoes that were too big. It really through me off.
While I don’t envy you in general for having to wear size 11, last night I would have given anything to be able to fit into the one pair of shoes I found that were only available in size 11 : (
I love your collection : )
