Bristols 6 Stylin’ Tape
By Meg | December 20, 2007
Disclaimer: I did receive some products from Bristols 6 free of charge with the understanding that I would review them. However, the company has at no time given me any type of input in regards to the type of review, I have received no other compensation for this review, and I don’t get any money from sales. As with all my reviews, this review is my honest opinion.
Fashion tape is a great idea. You can use it to keep straps from slipping or to secure those plunging necklines so as to not reveal any more than you intend — at least that’s the theory.
Over the years, I’ve tried several brands of fashion tape, all with much disappointment. In the brands I tried previously, the tape came in a tape holder pretty much identical to that of the typical Scotch tape roll. Cutting it to size was an exercise in frustration, particularly as the pieces ended up sticking to themselves and had to be thrown out. Then I’d try to use the pieces I did have and find that they stuck about as well as thrice used Post-it notes. As a result, I’ve occasionally resorted to using good ol’ duct tape. Unfortunately, it’s still not perfect.
That’s why I was happy that Bristols 6 sent me some of their Stylin’ Tape to review, along with their Nippies which I reviewed in my previous post. Still, I didn’t get my hopes up.
The first thing I noticed was that the tape came on a sheet — not a roll. Each sheet has 32 pieces in 3 precut widths. That there are still companies that don’t do this astounds me, because that made them super easy to apply.
The second thing I noticed that it was a whole lot stickier than any fashion tape I had used before. I would feel pretty confident using it on a daring top.
Finally, it did come off fairly easily when I wanted to take it off. A few hairs got pulled at first, but then I slowed down and it came off painlessly.
You can purchase the Stylin’ Tape at the Bristols 6 website for $10 per pack. The cost is probably comparable to what I’ve paid before for fashion tape, considering that the tape rolls used by other companies don’t really hold much tape once they add the non-stick backing on both sides. And unlike the other brands, the Bristols 6 Stylin Tape isn’t a complete waste of money. To the contrary, it’s definitely worth buying if you even occasionally wear tops that need some coaxing to stay put.
As with the Nippies, there is a discount when you buy multiple packs, but I wouldn’t mind a better price overall. That and the annoying Flash website are my only two complaints.

I’ve never used fashion tape - just regular old Scotch double-stick tape. It worked well enough.
