The Bosom Button
By Meg | September 18, 2007
Disclaimer: I did receive a Bosom Button free of charge from the company with the understanding that I would review it. However, the company has at no time given me any type of input in regards to the type of review, I have received no other compensation for this review, and I don’t get any money from sales. As with all my reviews, this review is my honest opinion.
Like many women with ample bosoms, I have struggled for years to wear button-up tops. Even when the shirt is clearly large enough, there is often that annoying gap between the buttons. While camisoles are great to keep one’s modesty, I often don’t feel like adding another layer here in Florida and they don’t solve the look of the gap. Then I saw a review of the Bosom Button. The idea is simple, it’s a pretty pin that’s available in various colors of Swarovski crystal (plus a white pearl version) that you can use to pin together gaps, keep wrap tops from coming down, add sparkle to a pair of jeans, and so on. I was eager to get my hands on one to see if it really worked. Fortunately, the company was nice enough to send me one free to try out myself and review. Don’t you just love it when companies stand by their products!
As a gap fixer, the pin definitely works. I tried it out on an old shirt that I hadn’t worn for awhile due to the gap. It worked just as advertised. I was worried that it would look tacky, but the crystal actually looked great. It even got my husband’s approval. That said, I think that it would be cool to use more than one at a time going vertically between the top few buttons.
The pin could definitely work to pin closed a shirt where a button is missing or on a wrap top to keep things closed. However, I’d like to see larger versions that could really be button replacements. The current pin is 8mm, which is great if you just want a little sparkle, but multiple sizes would be a great improvement.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t use it on one of my shirts to close the bottom of the neckline because there wasn’t enough overlap in the material. It could probably be fixed with a brooch, but I wonder if it could be closed with something that had a hidden clip on each side. I’m not an inventor, though, so I’ll leave that to more knowledgeable people.
Overall, I definitely liked the Bosom Button. As useful and pretty as it is, I’ll definitely be wearing mine a lot. And when I’m not wearing it, it’ll likely reside in my purse in case I have a ‘wardrobe malfunction’. If you’re interested in buying your own Bosom Button, you can do so online at the company’s product page.
