My husband and matching
By Meg | June 24, 2007
Yesterday my husband and I were getting ready to go to a family reunion when he asked, “So, how do I look?” Of course he looked great. He had on his new glasses (see The Hunt for Glasses for more info), a gorgeous blue button-up shirt that I had picked out along with a pair of khakis, and his new pair of brown lace up dress shoes. Everything looked great at first, but something was off. “Sweetie, don’t you want to wear a brown belt with your brown shoes instead of a black one?” I suggested. “Oh, so that’s how you tell which one to wear!” he replied.
Too be honest, I was a bit surprised by what seemed like common sense. Then I had to remind myself that there really is no such thing as common sense when it comes to apparel. After all, I’ve come a long way myself. Fortunately, the belt was reversible so he didn’t even have to grab another belt out of the closet. I remember now how much I love reversible belts because it’s an easy fix even outside the house.
“Look, I wore brown socks to match my pants!” O.k., they were more like beige, but I was so happy to see that my husband decided against wearing white socks AND he knew that he was supposed to match his socks to his pants. Now that was a great surprise. I’m so proud of him.
