Work appropriate fabrics
By Meg | October 6, 2007
Fabulously Broke in the City has a great post up on Work Appropriate Fabrics. It’s definitely worth checking out. I’m glad she’s covered this subject since it doesn’t get much attention, even though fabric makes a huge difference in the tone of an outfit. After all, suits may be appropriate at most job interviews, but you might want to forgo wearing a leather suit.

Sadly….
Take a look at this monstrosity or this one. View at your own risk; these are awful.

A leather skirt is fine - outside of most workplaces, but I can’t imagine wearing leather all over except as a costume or something like that.

My sister used to work at Charlotte Russe and, at her particular location, they were not allowed to wear cotton to work. It wasn’t considered “professional.” Because they were supposed to be wearing CR clothes, and no cotton was allowed, they pretty much had to dress in all synthetics, every day. Yuck!

Wow! That’s weird. I can understand no leather, or no denim, but allowing cotton completely? That does sound like “yuck”!
