Glad I turned back

By Meg | July 25, 2007

So this week I’m still getting over my trip to London, the jet lag, and the tail end of the cold I picked up while there. Most of my clothes have still yet to be washed. In short, it takes a bit more effort to look polished right now.

Yesterday morning I had a dentist appointment. No big deal, right? Well, I still managed to find a suitable dress and matching accessories. I was pressed for time, though, so I got dressed, pulled my hair back, and grabbed the matching purse as well as the other purse that I used last and had all my stuff (or so I thought). I planned to do my makeup in the car since my husband was driving (and boy do I need makeup this week, because I look just about as tired and sick as I feel).

We got about two blocks out when I realized that my makeup bag hadn’t made it in either purse. Do I go back? I felt so vain even mentioning it to my husband, but he said that he really needed to check the oil anyways and that we’d still only be a few minutes late.

Well, I am SO glad that I went back and got my makeup. On the way back my husband and I decided to meet with our new client (as well as stop by and visit a friend that I haven’t seen in a while). While it seems like such a little thing, I don’t think I would have made anywhere near as good an impression wearing my “sick and tired” face. Even if they wouldn’t have noticed the difference (and I do think they would have), I felt a lot more confident and energized - and that definitely made a huge difference.

Sometimes you really need a sweet tea. I tend to drink it most when I’m ill because it’s a comfort food.
