Fashion Fanatic on TLC
By Meg | August 18, 2007
Well, I just finished watching TLC’s new show Fashion Fanatic, hosted by Stacey London of TLC’s What Not to Wear. It’s on Fridays at 9pm, but fortunately for me I have a digital video recorder so I’m still plenty free to go out on Friday nights. The topic of this episode was designer shoes and handbags, quite a lot to cover in one episode. The show does a good job at showing why sometimes it pays to spend more, especially when it comes to shoes. I was surprised by some of the comfort features found in some designer shoes. A 12-hour heel would definitely be worth more to me than a 1-hour heel. Too bad I can’t try the shoes out for a day first, though.
You can try out some great bags, though not for free. Bag Borrow or Steal was featured on the show. For those who aren’t familiar, it’s a rental service sort of like Netflix for designer bags and other accessories like jewelry and belts. It’s definitely a “Why didn’t I think of that?” idea. I occasionally head to their web site just to do a little window shopping. If I ever get into designer bags, that’ll probably be the way I go.
On a related note, I saw a purple bag tonight at Steinmart that I wanted. Turns out, it’s a Coach bag. Unfortunately, discounted it still costs $200. I know that’s a bargain to some, but remember, I just bought four bags last weekend - two of them leather - for less than $70 total. And personally, I think the bags I bought were much cuter. Though… I do have a special place in my heart for purple. At the very least, I recommend using a service like Bag Borrow or Steal to try out a bag before committing hundreds or thousands of dollars to buying one (unless you happen to be rolling in money).
