Dinner in with friends

By Meg | January 3, 2008

Yesterday, my husband and I were invited to a home-cooked dinner by a couple of our friends. While we’ve eaten out with friends many times, I can’t remember the last time we had dinner at a friend’s place.

Well, it was delicious! More than that though, we really enjoyed the company. And it was nice to be able to sit and chat with friends without having to yell over the din of a noisy sports bar, or worry that the waiters were hoping we’d hurry up and leave.

While I love eating out, it was a great reminder that one doesn’t have to eat out to share a meal with friends. And eating in is definitely cheaper for everyone!

I hope we can return the favor, though it’ll have to be around the coffee table since the renovation of our future kitchen has been postponed a bit.

We’ve had many shared meals around our coffee table. it’s the food & company that matters!

It’s also a fab opportunity to try out a fancy new recipe… as long as your friends are understanding enough to eat it even if it goes horribly wrong…

Especially if I’m understanding to call for pizza
; )

Actually, our friends were over last night. They weren’t planning to stay long, but we got into some good conversations and made a night out of it. They had already eaten, but one friend did help me try my new steamer out on steamed buns and brown rice. Fortunately, they turned out pretty good.
