Beige gone bad
By Meg | October 9, 2007
I love beige. It’s a versatile color and is exceptionally great on shoes and undergarments since it blends well with most skin tones. However, every now and then, I spot a case of beige gone bad. Today, my husband and I were talking in his van on campus before I had to head off to class, when out of the corner I saw something that made me just stop and stare.
A girl walked by wearing a knit top with horizontal stripes and a v-neck cut so low that it barely covered any her bust. Fortunately, she was wearing a camisole underneath; unfortunately, it was beige. The result was that at first glance it looked like she didn’t have anything at all under her low cut top and that her boobs were just hanging out. Even once I realized that I was seeing a camisole and not her naked breasts, I still had to say, “Ewwww…” - which was echoed by my husband.
The lesson of this story is: when wearing beige outerwear, always make sure that it will not be mistaken for skin.
