Another bra intervention
By Meg | July 23, 2007
Yeah! I’m back home from London. I’m getting over a cold I picked up there, so I hope you’ll excuse me if my posts this week are not as frequent as before the trip. However, I’ve gotten plenty of inspiration and have a lot in mind to write.
First off, there is the story of another bra intervention. The reason for my trip was to perform with my high school band at Westminster Abbey. The person who received the bra intervention was my room mate, a fellow band alumna whom I mentioned in the post Greetings from London.
We were getting dressed for the concert when she asked if I had a spare white camisole because she didn’t want her black bra to show through the white dress shirts we had to wear. Since I didn’t have an extra, I asked her what bra size she wore. She replied, “38-B”. I handed her one of my beige 34-D bras and said only, “Here, try this!”. Before even noticing the size, she asked, “Won’t this show through?” I assured her that it would work even better than a white bra. She tried it on, and remarked about how well it fit. One of the things she noticed right away was that she no longer had such a problem with armpit fat. She was happily surprised to find out that she was really a 34-D, and not a 38-B. I was happy to have helped, and feeling pretty smart since I knew that a 34-D would probably fit her well enough even if it wasn’t quite her size (see It’s Not You It’s Your … for more on that subject). It was a wonderful surprise that it fit better than her own bras.
Oh, but if only I had brought many, many more beige bras! Looking around the group as we got ready to leave I saw a number of girls wearing black bras, and most of the rest wearing white bras that still showed through a bit. Unfortunately, it was too late to say anything, and I didn’t want to make the girls any more nervous before our big performance. Fortunately, the uniform jacket conceals the bra area during concerts, but it is not worn much outside of the concert. Hopefully, they learned their lessons. If not, I might have to return and make a few more interventions. Too many bras… never enough time.
And by the way, the concert went quite well. I’m happy to be back home, though.
