A quick way to save time and maybe some money, too

By Meg | January 11, 2008

Since classes are back in session, I’ve been thinking about ways I can save time.

Then I looked at my inbox. I actually don’t get much spam at all because I’ve kept my email addresses fairly secret and don’t give them out to people I know send chain letters. However, I still get newsletters from different online stores I’ve ordered from, as well as newsletters from other sites. Even though I don’t read most, it still takes a moment to decide which ones I’m going to delete and then send those to the trash folder.

So, slowly but surely, I’ve been unsubscribing. Sure, it’s nice to know about the latest sales, but I’m trying not to buy much right now anyway. Things are already clearing up, though I’ve had to block Costco since after trying for months to get of their list, they are still sending me junk mail — and I don’t even shop at Costco!

I’m also thinking about signing up for Green Dimes to reduce the amount of junk mail that ends up on our counters. The price seems reasonable considering that it’ll save my husband and I a lot of time. Again, part of me feels like I’ll miss out on great coupons or offers, but I don’t need an excuse to spend more money and I’ve never been good at using coupons anyway (and I can find plenty online or in stores).

I’ve been unsubscribing too.. it takes a bit of effort/time, but so far, I’ve cut down on a LOT of spam and now I don’t expect much spam except from stores I really want to hear about like drug stores ;)

I’m glad it’s working for you! The only one I’m seriously considering keeping is the one for the drug store I use.
